Lars Benzon
Lars Benzon (1687 –1742) was a landowner and a deputy (deputeret) in the commissariat general of the Danish navy. He was the son of the attorney general Niels Benzon and the brother of Peter Benzon and Jacob Benzon. In 1717, while he was working as a kammerjunker (personal secretary), he received an appointment as deputy, a high-ranking title he held during the times of Count Frederik Danneskiold-Samsøes. Together with others, in 1721 he drafted a new approach to accounting for the Danish navy. On 12 March 1721, he married Charlotte Amalie von Adeler (1703-1724). In 1731 he became a konferensråd (royal advisor). In 1738, an anonymous complaint was made against Danneskiold's administrative approach, which resulted in reports in favour of Danneskiold from the admiralty and the commissariat. Despite these, Benzon ruled against Danneskiold. King Christian VI, however, sided with Danneskiold, sharpy repuking Benzon. Danneskiold called for Benzon's dismissal but the king maintained his authority. In 1738, Benzon resigned, retired to his estates (Sæbygård, Hagested Gaard and Kornerup) and died in 1742. ==References==
